Cyclone Phet Approaches

If the storm continues on the present track, the weather here in UAE will go downhill tomorrow and get worse on Saturday. Masirah Island Oman is already experiencing winds sustained at 75 mph gusting to 100 and more than a foot of rain has fallen since 1pm. Fortunately, everyone was evacuated. It might be worth a day trip to the East Coast of UAE just to see the waves!

Nathalie was one of my ESL students in Miami. We've kept in touch over the years, visiting each other in Paris and Miami. She is the first guest to stay with us here in Dubai.

Sights Around Town

On the left is The Address Hotel with some cool indoor and outdoor bars. In the middle is the entrance to the Souk @ Dubai Mall. The night photo is the Dubai Creek in the old part of the city.

This is in JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence) which is the South Beach of Dubai (minus the crime) where you can actually ride a camel along the shoreline.
