Fjords of Musandam, Oman

Here is a photo of our dhow. For some reason, photos are disappearing, and I am having trouble adding new ones. Will try to update later today or tomorrow. Sorry!

Coastal Road in Oman

We had no idea that just a few hours north of Dubai, the flat sandy desert becomes a rocky and mountainous coastline with hidden sandy beaches and crashing waves. Because Oman has not altered its coastline like UAE, the Arabian Gulf is really choppy.

Musandam Peninsula, Oman as seen from space

You know how sometimes you do something on a whim, and then during that something, you think, WOW, what a great idea! Well, a few weeks back, we were planning to go to Hatta for my birthday. Ingrid thought it was not the best idea, so I told her to come up with something better. She found a weekend trip to the fjords of Oman, in the Straits of Hormuz that separate the Arabian peninsula from Iran. It was booked, so we postponed til Easter weekend. I have many pics to post with explanations, so please keep checking back this week. For some info on the area, read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khasab We left from the town of Khasab (green area) and sailed into the fjord immediately above and to the right.

Heat & Company

Spring is here, so no more rain. Each week has 1 or 2 really hot days (104 last Saturday!) then it cools off to the 85-90 range. Ingrid's friend Nancy spent a few days here on her way to cruise from Dubai to Rome. We also saw Aline from Nice for the 1st time in almost 5 years. She was visiting Fabien for the week. Next weekend we are off to cruise the fjords of Oman...
